Infiniti is on a serious roll.
Infiniti sales are up 36% in 2003 versus 2002. That may not be as huge a gain as other brands--Hummer is up 6,477%, Mini, 85%--but those carmakers were either specialists gone mainstream thanks to another line (Hummer H2) or only just debuted in the middle of 2002 (Mini). Relatively speaking, Infiniti is a war-weary veteran, starting life way back in 1989--and always on the verge of utter failure since.
To flesh out this picture, it's important to know that Infiniti, the upscale division of Nissan (nasdaq: NSANY - news - people ), has never seen even 1% of total vehicle sales in the U.S.
